THE KAISER CHIEFS
Live at Elland Road
(Liberator Music)
6/10
If there is one thing that’s certain, The Kaiser Chiefs can pull a humungous crowd. Elland Road stadium was jam packed with punters for the filming of this DVD, probably because it was filmed in their hometown of Leeds. The energy provided by the band on their own turf is awe-inspiring with the Chiefs playing a killer set of 18 songs from their three albums. The only downfall (and it is a huge one) is that the filming is mediocre in so many ways. Shots are poorly constructed and the camera quality looks like it was filmed on a handy cam at times. Compared to other stadium DVD’s this is a poor production, disappointing considering it could have been a world class showcase of a legendary British act. The BBC electric proms that follow the concert save the DVD in so many ways. The Chiefs play six tracks with a 13 piece orchestra in a more intimate setting. Let’s hope their live show is better presented when the boys come down under for the V Festival in March (Viv).
