LAMB OF GOD
Walk With Me in Hell
(Roadrunner)
8/10
‘Walk With Me In Hell’ catches up with the seemingly unstoppable metal touring juggernaut that is Lamb of God as they embark on a world-wide tour promoting their most successful album yet, ‘Sacrament’. The 2DVD set includes a feature-length documentary, the band’s entire Download Festival performance in front of 72,000 rowdy English fans, the ‘Making of ‘Sacrament’, the ‘Making of ‘Redneck’ and enough bits and pieces to push the package past the four and a half hour mark. Love them or hate them, there is no denying Lamb of God know how to make a quality, value-for-money music DVD. The ‘Walk With Me in Hell’ documentary is superbly shot, edited and compiled by Doug Spangenberg, however – and I may be reading too far into this – it seems as if everything has been presented through rose coloured glasses. This might be a reaction to vocalist Randy Blythe’s negative portrayal in past DVDs, or it might not. Either way, the carefree, zoo-visiting, fruit-shooting, bungy-jumping version of the band isn’t quite as entertaining as the ‘Killadelphia’ version, which saw a kilt-wearing Randy get “knocked the fuck out!” Still, it’s great to catch up with these five very different, but totally engaging characters as they enjoy a well-deserved positive patch in their career and relationship. Keep an eye out for the QLD footage (Gav).
